
CME- Recent Trends in Management of Heart Failure

Program Details
A Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on “Recent Trends in Management of Heart Failure” was organized on 23.12.2023 by the Department of Pharmacology in association with the Department of Cardiology at Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumakuru.
The program was conducted in hybrid mode at the Hospital Auditorium with the objective of updating healthcare professionals and students regarding recent advances in the management of heart failure and promoting interdisciplinary learning. The CME included KMC credit hours and witnessed active participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, interns, and undergraduate medical students.
The scientific sessions were delivered by eminent speakers from various specialties. Dr. Deepak T G, Assistant Professor, Emergency Department, SIMS & RH, spoke on the management of heart failure in emergency settings. Dr. Puttaraj, Professor and HOD of Internal Medicine, Siddaganaga Medical College, delivered a lecture on the status of SGLT-2 inhibitors and ARNI in the treatment of heart failure.
Dr. Suresh, Interventional Cardiologist, SIMS & RH, discussed optimization of treatment in hospitalized heart failure patients, while Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Cardiac Anesthetist from JSS Medical College, Mysore, explained anesthetic implications in heart failure patients posted for surgery.
A panel discussion moderated by Dr. Mohammed Ziauddin Sarkhil with contributions from expert panelists provided valuable insights into interdisciplinary management of heart failure. The session on recently approved drugs for heart failure was delivered by Dr. Sparsha Deep E M, Professor and HOD, Department of Pharmacology, SIMS & RH. The CME concluded successfully with prize distribution and valedictory function, contributing significantly towards academic excellence and professional development.
The District Level Intercollegiate Quiz Competition 2023 was conducted on 23.12.2023 by the Department of Pharmacology in association with the Department of Cardiology at Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Hospital, Tumakuru, as part of the CME program on “Recent Trends in Management of Heart Failure.”
Undergraduate medical students from various colleges actively participated in the competition. The quiz covered topics related to pharmacology, cardiology, therapeutics, and recent advances in healthcare.
The event encouraged academic interaction, teamwork, and knowledge enhancement among students. The competition concluded successfully with prize distribution and appreciation for all participants and organizers.
