Overview
The MEU Team at SIMSRH, Tumkur is well balanced by dedicated & trained faculty catering the faculty development programme required for the medical faculty across all the specialities as per the NMC norms as well postgraduate training.
The MEU does work under MS Ramiah Medical College, the assigned regional centre by National Medical Commission, New Delhi fulfilling its objectives.
I. GOALS
- Enhance Clinical Competency: Provide high-quality education that equips students and professionals with the clinical skills and knowledge required to deliver safe and effective healthcare.
- Promote Lifelong Learning: Encourage students and professionals to stay up to date on medical advancements and best practices by fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Promote interprofessional cooperation: Initiate collaborative practice by fostering effective teamwork and communication skills among various healthcare professionals.
- Ensure Educational Excellence and Accessibility: Facilitate a comprehensive, inclusive, and accessible curriculum that meets the GMER guidelines drafted & regulated by NMC.
- Provide support for Educational Research: Orient the faculty & students to circumvent the educational innovation in health for education.
II. AIM
The aim of a Medical Education Department is to inculcate evidence-based, and innovative educational framework within feasible setting that develops competent, compassionate, and adaptable healthcare professionals capable of meeting the healthcare system’s evolving demands.

Objectives
1. Curriculum Development:
- Design, implement, and evaluate an integrated curriculum aligned with current medical standards and healthcare needs as per GMER, NMC.
- Integrate clinical, theoretical, and hands-on training to provide a balanced educational experience.
2. Faculty & postgraduate Development programmes:
- Offer continuous professional development – Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME), Curriculum implementation Support Programme (CISP) under the assigned regional centre.
- Conduct Internship Orientation Programme, workshop on OSPE/OSCE, Educational methodology for the faculty, Postgraduate Orientation programme on Research methodology, Ethics, Communication & Quality Care, etc catering the needs of the institution.
The two days Curriculum Implementation Support Program (CISP) III was conducted on 16th and 17th September 2025 in the Institute by Curriculum committee with the support of Medical Education Unit ( MEU). Dr.Aswin Kumar was nominated by NMC as observer to the program. The designated faculties of SIMS &RH actively participated in the program with good interaction with the resource persons for effective implemention of CBME inthe Institute. The organizing committee thank managment and administration for providing all the support and cooperation for successful conduct of the program.
Faculty Development program[FDP]
On behalf of MEU, i am happy to share with you all that “Faculty Mentorship Program ” was successfully conducted for the batch of mentors to 2025batch MBBS students. All the mentors participated actively with a fair feedback and will be the forerunners for the students upliftment and institution. We thank Dr.Raman sir, Dr.Lavanya madam, Sri Patil sir, Dr. M L Harendra Kumar sir, Dr. Rekha Gurumurthy madam and Dr. Hemanth Raj for all the support and guidence for conducting the program. We thank all the HODs for relieving the mentors from their duties and permitted to participate in the program.
