Online Webinar “Neurophysiology in Clinical Practice”

Program Details

The Department of Physiology, Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital
(SIMS & RH), Tumakuru, in association with APPI, Bengaluru Chapter, successfully organized
an online webinar on the theme “Neurophysiology in Clinical Practice” on 16th May 2024
through the Zoom platform.
The webinar was conducted under the guidance of the Chief Patrons, Dr. M. R. Hulinaykar,
Chairman, Shridevi Charitable Trust (R), and Dr. Raman M. Hulinaykar, Medical Director,
SIMS & RH. The programme received valuable support from the Advisory Committee
comprising Dr. M. L. Harendra Kumar, Principal, SIMS & RH; Dr. Mohan Kumar K., Medical
Superintendent; Dr. Rekha Gurumurthy, Vice Principal (Academics) and Director of PG
Studies; and Dr. Hemanth Raj, Vice Principal (Administration).
The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. S. Arrthy, Professor and Head,
Department of Physiology, as Organising Chairman, along with Dr. Syed Sadat Ali, Professor,
Department of Physiology, as Organising Secretary. The scientific committee members
included Dr. Omkar N. G., Dr. Pushpa G., Dr. Nisar Ahamed, and Dr. Tabassum Fathima.
The webinar commenced with an inaugural session from 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., during
which the dignitaries welcomed the participants and emphasized the growing importance of
neurophysiology in clinical practice, research, and medical education.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Kaviraja Udupa, President, APPI (Bengaluru
Chapter) and Professor in Neurophysiology, NIMHANS, Bengaluru. He spoke on the topic
“Neuromodulation in Neuropsychiatry Research & Intraoperative Neurophysiology in
Neurosurgery Procedures.” The lecture highlighted recent advancements in
neuromodulation techniques, neuropsychiatric research, and intraoperative
neurophysiological monitoring during neurosurgical procedures. The session provided
participants with valuable clinical insights and practical applications in the field of
neurophysiology.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from various faculty members and
delegates from different medical colleges and institutions across the country, as well as
international faculties, actively attended the programme through Zoom, making the
webinar academically diverse and globally interactive.

The session was highly informative and interactive. Participants actively engaged in the
Question and Answer session conducted from 12:00 noon to 12:10 p.m., where the resource
person addressed several academic and clinical queries raised by the audience.
The webinar concluded successfully with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the
management, guest speaker, APPI Bengaluru Chapter, organizing committee, faculty
members, and participants for their valuable support and cooperation. The programme
served as an excellent academic platform for knowledge sharing, professional interaction,
and advancement in the field of neurophysiology.
