The Department of Dermatology, SIMS & RH, Tumakuru, in association with the Tumkur Dermatologist Society (TDS), organized a Walkathon on the occasion of World Leprosy Day on 30th January 2024.

The program aimed to create awareness about leprosy, its early detection, treatment, and to reduce stigma associated with the disease. The event witnessed active participation from SIMS & RH staff, postgraduate students, and Shridevi College students.

The walkathon commenced at 7:00 AM from Town Hall Circle to the DC Office, followed by breakfast. A quiz program on leprosy was also conducted for postgraduate students to enhance academic knowledge and engagement.

Participants assembled at the campus early in the morning, demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment toward public health awareness. The event concluded with distribution of prizes to winners of the quiz competition.

Overall, the program was successful in spreading awareness about leprosy and encouraging community participation in eliminating stigma and promoting early treatment.
